You want the look of hardwood but can't afford it? Laminate flooring is the perfect solution because it is resistant, easy to clean, hypoallergenic but also scratch, stain and fade resistant. Also, laminate flooring is perfect for households with children and pets. Furthermore, the cost is less than solid hardwood. There are different types of laminates available; regarding their look, plank widths or colors. Laminates are best known as substitutes for wood floors but can also resemble stone or ceramic tiles.

What is Laminate Flooring?

A laminate floor is made by joining several layers of materials into one board for creating a high-tech floor. The central layer of the laminate floorboard is nearly entirely made of high density fiberboard, but sometimes is substituted with medium density fiberboard. The core supports the weight and stress of foot traffic. In conclusion, this will affect the stability of the floor. The laminate’s bottom layer is responsible for strength and stability while the top layer has a decorative purpose. This is actually a picture of the floor which is printed on a type of “living paper”.   Over the decorative layer, a transparent layer is applied and treated with one or more coats of aluminum oxide. The purpose of this process is an incredible wear resistance against scratches, burns or stains. The locking system is an easy to assemble process responsible for the way laminate boards click together to form your floor. Installing laminate floors is something many people execute on their own. Furthermore, you will not need a glue laminate floor or building a level subfloor.
